Community members without a currently enrolled student are welcome to submit comments or questions about the proposed options through a Community Input Form from Aug. 16-30.

Centennial Elementary

Centennial Elementary

Funded by Bond 2008, our 29th elementary school is being built in the Lakewood Pines subdivision. Prominent in the school’s design will be natural light and areas that allow students to collaborate with each other on projects, lessons and activities. The school will include a secured visitors’ entry and other safety features. The layout is based on pods, which are classrooms located around a central makerspace for each grade level. Design plans also include stacking lanes to keep traffic from backing up on major streets.

Approved Attendance Zone

Attendance Zone Option A was approved at the September 10, 2019, meeting of the Humble ISD Board of Trustees.

Parent input showed a preference for Option A. Of the comments shared online by parents expressing support for an option, Option A was preferred 73 percent, compared to 27 percent for Option B.

Students residing in these neighborhoods will be zoned to the new elementary school:

  • Lake Forest Village (55B)

  • Lake Park Village (55B)

  • Lakeside Terrace (55B)

  • Lakewood Pines (55A)

  • South Pointe Village (55F)

  • Stillwater on Lake Houston (55I)

  • Suncrest Village (55F)

  • Summer Lake Ranch (55I)
(The above neighborhoods are currently zoned to Lakeshore Elementary School. )

  • Balmoral Section 1 (15E)
Flex Zone: Choice of ES #29 or Ridge Creek Elementary

  • Balmoral Section 2 & 3 (15P & 15Q)
Flex Zone: Choice of ES #29 or Groves Elementary
(In Flex Zones, students have the option of attending the school to which they are zoned or attending the new school with bus transportation provided.)

Elem29 Zoning Option A

Under the new boundaries, the Lakeshore flex zone to Groves Elementary School will no longer be in place. Families currently enrolled at Groves Elementary from the Lakeshore flex zone will have the option to remain at Groves on a transfer which will be automatically granted.  Transportation to and from school for all transfer students in Humble ISD is the parent’s responsibility.

The new boundaries also rezone one section (55K - Chapman Woods Crossing Apartments) from Lakeshore Elementary to Ridge Creek Elementary.

If my area was zoned to the new school and I want my children to remain at their current school, can they?
Currently enrolled students will be allowed to remain at their current school through the completion of fifth grade if they choose to do so. These students will be transfer students, and their transfer request will be automatically granted. The district will not split families: If a younger sibling enters school while a currently enrolled student is on a transfer to that school, the sibling’s transfer request will be granted so that all siblings can be at the same school together. Transportation to and from school for all transfer students in Humble ISD is the parent’s responsibility.

How can I learn more about the new elementary School?
Principal Alison Pierce will be holding a series of informational presentations about the new school, as well as engaging the community in developing the school’s colors, mascot and culture. Invitations to participate will be issued by email when plans are finalized.
