KHS students have been asking for a school store for many years, but the building just didn't have any available space for it. The recent Humble ISD Bond for building renovations has allowed KHS to build in a space for a school store in the new Sports Commons. The newly redesigned Sports Commons is a part of the Third Gymnasium expansion on the campus of Kingwood High School.
KHS Building Principal Dr. Michael Nasra said, "Our students have approached me with this idea for a few years now, and I'm proud that we are able to make it happen for them. The student-run school store aligns perfectly with our vision of being designers of authentic learning experiences, and they've had first-hand experience in being an entrepreneur and opening a start-up business. The students had to work through concepts such as location, regulations, pricing, logo and naming, financing, marketing, and staffing. I am proud that they're establishing their legacy at KHS and can't wait to see how the school store enhances our school culture."
Students checking out the Mustang Market on opening day, January 29th
The student-operated store will be known as the Mustang Market and will be open before school and during Mustang Hour. Morning hours are from 6:45 AM to 7:25 AM. Mustang Hour is focused around the lunch times at KHS and is a flex period that allows students to have lunch and attend other academic and extra-curricular events. Mustang Hour is usually from Noon to 1 PM, but times will fluctuate on block days and special bell schedules.
The school store will offer Mustang gear, such as shirts and sweaters, and also school supplies, as well as some snacks and beverages. The school store opens on Monday, January 29th.

We are looking forward to the future and how the school store develops along with the continued enhancement to that part of the building.
