HUMBLE ISD ATHLETES BRING HOME MEDALS FROM UIL STATE TRACK & FIELD
Despite soggy weather conditions and weather delays during the weekend, Humble ISD athletes competed and excelled in events at the 2023 UIL State Track & Field Meet in Austin this past weekend.
Humble ISD sent 19 individual athletes and six relay teams to compete in the State Track & Field Meet held at Mike A. Myers Stadium on the campus of the University of Texas in Austin.
Atascocita High School’s Paris Kimble brought home the Class 6A state championship in the shot put with a career-record throw of 45-feet-6.75-inches. Her third throw of the day, 45-feet-4.50-inches put her in the lead heading into the final throw.
Summer Creek High School senior Donovan Bradley had another standout state weekend. Bradley, who is signed with Cal Berkeley, took silver in the 110-meter and 300-meter hurdles. In the 110-meter hurdles, Bradley finished second with a time of 13.66 and in the 300-meter hurdles crossed the line at 36.46.
In the discus event, Summer Creek High School’s Kyron Duhon took silver with a throw of 183-feet-4-inches in his final attempt of the day. Duhon is just a junior.
In the relays, the Summer Creek 4x400-meter relay of Phoenix Phillips, Morgan Johnson, Brooke Lloyd and Madisyn Jackson took silver posting a time of 3:44.10.
Off that relay team, Lloyd also competed in the 400-meter race and took bronze with a time of 54.11.
For Kingwood Park, senior Trenton Burningham took bronze in the 800-meter race posting a time of 1:52.29.
