Every biennial, the University Interscholastic League reclassifies and realigns schools across the State of Texas for athletic competition for the following two years.
The annual event took place on Thursday morning as the UIL revealed the new district alignments for football, volleyball and basketball for the 2024-2025 and 2025-2026 school years at 9 a.m.
Humble ISD has four Class 6A programs - Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood and Summer Creek - and one Class 5A program in Kingwood Park.
Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood and Summer Creek will move into the new District 23-6A. They will be joined by North Shore, Channelview and Goose Creek Memorial to round out the seven-team district. Channelview and Goose Creek Memorial, which was Class 5A in the last alignment, replace Beaumont United and Beaumont West Brook, which moved down to Class 5A. This will be the alignment for football, volleyball and basketball.
Kingwood Park saw the biggest change as it moves from Region 2 to Region 3. But the Panthers have different district placement for football compared to volleyball/basketball.
The Panthers football team will play in District 11-5A-DI with Crosby, Fort Bend Kempner, Friendswood, Spring Woods, La Porte, Porter and Pasadena to make an eight-team district.
For volleyball and basketball, Kingwood Park will play in District 18-5A. In this district they will face Crosby, Dayton, Porter, West Fork, Pasadena and Splendora.
Class 5A football and classifications below are already pre-split into divisions, while Class 6A football isn't until the playoffs based on enrollment. Other sports, such as volleyball and basketball do not split into divisions in alignment or the playoffs.
