Each week through the 2024 Texas high school football season, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football and Community Coffee have partnered to name weekly recipients of the 2024 Community Leader Award.
The award is given weekly to an influential community leader across the State of Texas.
For Week 6, Summer Creek High School Media Specialist Jadira Bernal received the Dave Campbell’s Texas Football 2024 Community Leader Award presented by Community Coffee.
“She has her hands in almost everything at SCHS,” Principal Dr. Matthew Mahony, who nominated Bernal for the award, said. “Ms. Bernal helps individuals in EVERY department figure out how to do the HARD things that help them run their programs in a way that helps kids. We are lucky to have such a talented and giving educator, who leads both out in front and from behind the scenes.”
Bernal is one of 10 influential community leaders across Texas who will be recognized throughout the 2024 high school football season.
“Any time Summer Creek has something going on, chances are you’ll see Jadira there,” Summer Creek football coach Kenny Harrison said. “She has a phenomenal relationship with the students. She takes a lot of pride in everything that she does here on campus and in the community.”
Each Community Leader will receive a commemorative football and gift package, as well as a $500 donation to their school.
“Everyone’s really proud to be a part of this community,” Bernal said. “We want to make sure that we’re always giving it our best. That’s what I strive to do.”
Now in the award’s second year, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football and Community Coffee continue celebrating educators and school administrators who make an impact in the lives of student-athletes — both on the field and in the classroom.
After all 10 of this season’s Community Leaders have been revealed, Dave Campbell’s Texas Football will hold a vote for the overall Community Leader of the Year Award. The poll will be open for two weeks, with the winner receiving an additional $2,500 donation from Community Coffee.
