SAN ANTONIO - Kennedy Simpson scored 21 points, Addison Martin and Endia Thomas chipped in nine and eight points, respectively, and Summer Creek came back from down 18 points to defeat Cedar Hill 52-49 in the Class 6A Division I State Championship game on Saturday night.
Simpson, who went 14 for 20 from the free throw line, and had four rebounds, four steals and four assists was named the State Championship Game Most Valuable Player.

Erin Newsom scored six points and grabbed a team-leading nine rebounds for the Lady Bulldogs. Taiya Kikunga also chipped in six points as well. Kay'len Alexander had four rebounds and two points in the win.
With the victory, Summer Creek claimed the first-ever girls basketball state championship in program history and the first in Humble ISD history. This is the first girls basketball state title for the CIty of Houston since Cypress Woods won in 2015.
Summer Creek finishes the year 30-11 overall under first-year head coach Kiara Marshall.
