On Saturday, September 14, over 100 Humble ISD educators gathered to see first-hand how AI tools could be used as a planning partner. Student leaders, Teacher leaders, and industry partners including WeTeachCS (Code.org), Canva, and Adobe guided participants through hands-on experiences demonstrating the endless possibilities to support student learning.
The structure of the AI Summit allowed those who attended to choose their own learning experience and create a schedule that best suited their personal interests and needs. Using tools like Learning Explorer, Magic School, and Khanmigo, teachers and administrators developed lesson outlines focused on engaging meaningful work and student discussion. While creating these lesson outlines, strategies to scaffold and support students, specifically our Emerging Bilingual students, were curated to best meet the needs of all students. Teachers also generated strategies to enhance and enrich the learning experience to better support our advanced and gifted and talented students. In addition to lesson design and instructional strategies, teachers and administrators learned how to use various AI tools to increase their work efficiency, creating more time to work directly with students.
Our iD8 studio, supported by Adobe for Education, was a creative mecca. Students guided teachers through their thought process showing how they used computational thinking to develop curriculum-relevant video games and podcasts to showcase understanding of content. Teachers also had the opportunity to explore the various creation tools that can be used by students to demonstrate their learning in new, engaging ways.
AI Summit concluded with our panel of experts sharing their knowledge of the future of AI in education. Teachers left with a renewed energy and ready to put their learning to use.
