SAT School Day lets schools offer the SAT to juniors in school, on a weekday, expanding access to a globally recognized college admission test that's accepted at all U.S. colleges. Almost three million students in roughly 3,000 districts and 8,000 schools have participated in SAT School Day.

The SAT is the most widely used college admission test in the country. SAT scores demonstrate students are prepared for college with the necessary skills and knowledge. By breaking down barriers to access, SAT School Day can have a profound impact on a community—opening doors to college, scholarships, and financial aid for every student.

Benefits of SAT School Day for Students

Convenience - Students don't have to worry about locating or getting to the testing site. School day testing won't disrupt weekend plans, jobs, or family time.
Comfort - Students test in familiar surroundings with people they know.
Confidence - Nothing builds confidence like practice and the SAT is the only admission test that offers free, personalized practice plans for all students. Official SAT Practice on Khan Academy provides every student with a practice plan built just for them, along with integrated coaching tools for teachers to view progress and support their students.
Hassle-free - All Juniors are automatically registered for the exam. No action is required of families in advance.
No Cost - The school-day test, normally $50, is FREE for all juniors.
Score Reporting - Students may send score reports to as many as four colleges or scholarship programs.

When should I take the SAT?

Most high school students take the SAT, the ACT, or both during the spring of their junior year or fall of their senior year. It's important to leave time to re-take the test if you need to raise your score before you apply to college. The SAT exam is offered nationally every year in August, October, November, December, March, May, and June.

About the SAT

The SAT is an entrance exam used by most colleges and universities to make admissions decisions. It is a multiple-choice, pencil-and-paper test administered by the College Board.

The purpose of the SAT is to measure a high school student's readiness for college and provide colleges with one common data point that can be used to compare all applicants. College admissions officers will review standardized test scores alongside your high school GPA, the classes you took in high school, letters of recommendation from teachers or mentors, extracurricular activities, admissions interviews, and personal essays. How important SAT scores are in the college application process varies from school to school.

Overall, the higher you score on the SAT and/or ACT, the more options for attending and paying for college will be available to you.

Accommodations Requests

SCHS will only provide testing accommodations on the PSAT 8/9, PSAT/NMSQT, SAT, SAT Subject Exams, and AP Exams if they are requested and approved through the College Board. To begin the approval process, the parent consent form must be submitted to the 504/SpEd representative on campus. All accommodation requests must be submitted to campus staff prior to the January 10, 2023, College Board Deadline for the SAT SD to allow time for campus processing.
