March is recognized nationwide as Youth Art Month. Each year, the Texas Art Education Association (TAEA) sponsors the Youth Art Month State Capitol Exhibit in Austin, inviting school districts across Texas to submit a limited number of outstanding student artworks created by Pre-K through 12th grade students.
This year, Humble ISD was proud to have two student artworks selected for inclusion in the 2025 Texas Youth Art Month Exhibition.
Shadow Forest Elementary fifth grader Millie Pendleton’s piece “Cool Hues on a Rosy Background” and Kingwood Middle School seventh grader Arabella Ramirez’s piece “Luna” were selected for the exhibit. Pendleton utilized tempra and oil pastel, while Ramirez utilized graphite for her piece.
The selected students were recognized at a special awards ceremony held in Austin on March 9, 2025. In addition, both students and their art teachers were honored during the Humble ISD Board of Trustees Meeting on Tuesday, April 8 for this prestigious honor.
