Hello Voyager Parents,

My name is Andreen McKay and I'm thrilled to become JFE's new counselor. I would like to take this moment to introduce myself. I have been in education for the past 18 years, and I have been at Jack Fields serving our awesome tigers for just as long.

The goal is to continue to provide our students with the tools necessary through classroom guidance lessons, small group, and individual counseling.

If you have questions about counseling or other responsive services, please contact me directly at 281-641-2707 or Email Andreen McKay

Kind Regards, ♥
Ms. McKay

Greetings Voyager Parents:

I’m excited to be here and I look forward to getting to know you and your children!

I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, my name is Karla Corpus and I joined the JFE family as a part-time Elementary School Counselor 2022.  I am so happy to be here and be a part of such a wonderful school and community!

I find it fascinating talking to, connecting with, and helping young people. I would like the students here to think of my office as a warm and friendly place, where they are always welcome. My office is also a safe haven – a place where they can get help if they feel confused or worried.

JFE is a great school, but that doesn’t mean that our students won’t face challenges while they are here. I would like your children to know that they have an ally, and that there is always an adult at the school who will be on their side.

As a School Counselor, my primary responsibility is to promote the academic, personal, and social development of all students.  I look forward to offering support to the students, staff, families and community.

Please note that all information discussed is confidential between me and your child, unless they are planning on hurting themselves, hurting someone else or someone is hurting them.

Please feel free to call me, or stop in so that we can meet face to face. I can be reached by email at kcorpus@humbleisd.net or by phone at (281) 641-2773.

I’m excited to be here and I look forward to getting to know you and your children!

Regards,
Mrs. Corpus

Counseling at JFE

As the Jack Fields Counselors, we have the privilege to work with all of our students in PK-5th grade in their classrooms, in small groups, and in short-term individual counseling meetings to support the whole child through social and emotional learning. Collaborating with families, teachers, staff and community members is essential to our role to benefit and meet the needs of all JFE students.

COUNSELING DELIVERY:

Classroom Guidance Lessons: These lessons will be presented in the classrooms for students in grades PK-5 at least one time each nine-week grading period.  Lessons will teach developmentally appropriate life skills.

Group or Individual Counseling: Group or individual counseling is provided for students experiencing areas of needed growth. These may include decision-making, personal responsibility, self-awareness, social awareness, and coping with separation/divorce or loss.  Groups generally range from 4 to 6 students and last for 6 to 8 sessions. The students for these groups or individual sessions can be recommended by parents/guardians or by staff members.

Individual/Personalized Counseling: Short-term one-on-one counseling support is available to all students in grades PK-5. Students may self-refer or be referred to the counselors by teachers/staff and/or parents. Confidentiality is respected.

We will be meeting with each student throughout the year.

You can learn more about Personalized Counseling in Humble ISD through this video link-

Consultations: We are available to have meetings with teachers, administrators and/or parents to discuss the needs of individual students. We are here for all students and want to ensure that your child has a productive and positive school year.

Any student can request to meet with us or they can be referred by a teacher, administrator, or parent.  I encourage you to reach out if you have concerns regarding your child.

**Confidentiality** Please note that all information discussed is confidential between me and your child, unless they express that they are hurting themselves, hurting someone else or someone is hurting them.
