The theatre department held a public performance of its UIL One-Act Play on March 6 in the Performing Arts Center. The play is called "They Promised Her the Moon."

On Monday night, 76 new members of the National Honor Society were inducted in the Performing Arts Center.

Students in debate class discuss a variety of topics during class while sitting their desks in a circle on Feb. 27. The debate program has a new leader in English teacher Christina Hutchinson this year.

Newspaper staff members celebrated Scholastic Journalism Day with a photo shoot in between the projects they are each working on for KPTimes.com and the print newspaper.




Hands-on learning continued in classes as anatomy students dissected a sheep's eye this week.

Playoff Bound! The boys basketball team will play A&M Consolidated in Bi-District action. The game will be February 24th at 7 p.m. at Magnolia West High School. (42202 FM 1774, Magnolia).

In OnRamps Biology, students participated in a DNA structure lab. They extracted DNA from a strawberry and observed it through a microscope.

Congratulations to senior Cameron Minatrea, who was awarded a college scholarship to Texas Tech after winning the top journalism award at the Texas Tech Academic UIL Invitational. Minatrea is an all-state journalist and the sports editor of the Kingwood Park Times.
Juniors participated in a full day of college, military and career discussions today. Guest speakers, along with college and military recruiters, were on campus to visit with students and answer questions.




Kingwood Park NHS officers joined NHS officers from across Humble ISD to lead a district-wide leadership conference today at Humble HS. NHS members from all six high schools were invited to participate and gain leadership skills.

The Humble ISD Rodeo Art Show is not short on talent! If you couldn’t make it last night, another showing is TONIGHT, Jan. 29, at the Humble Civic Center from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.



Student Council held a food drive last week with a little of a twist. Students could donate non-perishable items in the name of teachers or principals. The staff members with the most donations were pied in the face at lunch on Tuesday.

NHS members and prospective members spent part of their Saturday serving various nonprofits. The NHS officers arranged stations around the cafeteria so students could work together on projects to fill needs throughout the community.



OnRamps Physics students created a food drive during their rotational motion unit. Before donating the canned food, the students used the cans to work through experiments in the unit.

Teaching to lead! With 41 years of teaching experience, teacher and coach Kim Ackerman was the keynote speaker at the NHS Leadership Workshop after school on Wednesday. More than 60 current and prospective NHS members showed up to participate in leadership rotations and listen to Ackerman's advice on becoming leaders.

Students in Advanced Biology worked with VR equipment during class last week. Students enjoyed the technology and activity.

Time to celebrate! The boys and girls swimming and diving team will celebrate Senior Night on Friday, Jan. 9, in the natatorium.

The boys basketball team is two games into district play now. They have home games on most Tuesday nights. Their next home game is Jan. 13 against Porter.

It's the giving season! National Honor Society senior Jude Richard volunteered at United Airlines this afternoon to work with United Airlines, Humble ISD Education Foundation and HAAM to provide non-perishable foods for more than 1,000 Humble ISD families.
